EXPANDED HORMONAL BUNDLE

Hormone bundle is directed at people suffering ailments that may be caused by endocrinology changes. Tests in this bundle will help determine hormonal balance and help identify endocrinology disorders.

EXPANDED HORMONAL BUNDLE
  • Estradiol (E2)Test for the concentration of estradiol during the periovulatory period is one of the indirect tests that confirm the occurrence of ovulation in a given period. Low concentration of estradiol have a detrimental influence on the bones (and can cause osteoporosis). Using estrogen therapy lowers the risk of limb, pelvis and femoral fractures by 40%.
  • FSHParticipates in development of ovarian follicles and influences processes related to fertility. FSH is also marked in order to determine the beginning of menopause.
  • LH (luteotropic hormone; lutropin)It is secreted by the pituitary gland and participates in the regulation of the menstrual cycle. Determination of both LH and FSH levels is used to differentiate the causes of menstrual disorders and is helpful in determining the date of ovulation. The assessment of the LH to FSH ratio is used in the diagnosis of ovarian failure.
  • ProgesteroneProvides vital information on the course of ovulation. Progesterone is responsible for proper preparation of the mucus for reception of the embryo and sustaining the pregnancy. Drop of progesterone concentration along with properly prepared endometrium initialises menstruation.
  • Prolactin (PRL)Prolactin is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Incorrect levels of this hormone might be linked to a pituitary adenoma. An indication advising to test this hormone are: disorderly menstruation periods, trouble with conception or frequent miscarriages. Increase of prolactin levels might be caused by physical effort or stress.
  • DHEA - SO4 (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate)It is and androgen – a hormone produced in the genitals. Most commons indications towards marking the DHEA-S levels are male traits appearing in women – excessive body hair, low voice, muscle mass increase. High concentrations of DHEA-S appear in the case of an adrenal cancer, virilizing tumours of the adrenal glands and innate adrenal overgrowth.
  • TestosteroneThis test is conducted in suspicion of infertility and in the case of premature or delayed puberty. Marking testosterone concentration are performed for women which exhibit male traits such as low voice or excessive body hair growth. Testosterone levels drop with age – this causes a series of disadvantageous changes in the organism that can cause many diseases.
